“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

— Annie Dillard

About Me

Being a human can be a lonely, confusing, and stressful experience. Although our modern world is a wondrous place, it can also feel overwhelming and isolating. And yet, maybe some part of you knows there is joy and connection to be had — so how do you access it? And what does it mean to find happiness in a world that is also filled with pain and suffering?

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade as an organic farmer; without knowing why, I sensed that I needed to do work that was close to the ground — to be near things that felt fundamental and foundational to life.

I view therapy in much the same way: as a space to work with what is deep and foundational in you. I seek to welcome you as a whole person, not just a list of symptoms — to wonder and to explore, with an appreciation for the many different pathways to healing.

I endeavor to always approach this work with a deep sense of curiosity: about you, your experience, and the full human being that you are. My goal is not to provide you with all the answers — instead, I’d like to embark on a relational journey with you, inviting us both to push against the boundaries of what we know about ourselves and the world.

I believe that therapy, at its best and most meaningful, is a place that allows for uncertainty. Our work together can provide you with the room and the space to discover, to feel the edges of what is possible within yourself — and to be deeply and meaningfully supported while you do that. You are not alone on this journey.

I work with a reverent respect for you, your joy, your pain, and your unique and singular life.

  • I’ve always loved language — books, poetry, philosophy, you name it. Words are one of our most powerful tools to express our inner world to other people, to narrate our lives to ourselves and to others. And of course, language is a very useful tool in psychotherapy.

However, there is much that lives in our bodies, much that presses against our hearts, that is resistant to being spoken. There is so much that is alive in us that gets missed when it is forced through the particular medium of language. What are these parts trying to tell you?

It is my belief that the thing that brought you here today — perhaps a sense of dissatisfaction, feelings of anxiety, or of isolation — that thing is trying to tell you something important. What is it saying?

The body you inhabit is an intelligent system; it is not broken. It is conveying messages that I believe can be honored, listened to, perhaps made sense of, if we can just listen closely enough — if we can allow the time and the space needed for it to unfold.

  • I’m an eclectic, holistic therapist. I am always learning, and I pull from many different theories and approaches. I consider myself a relational therapist who is interested in attachment, emotional focusing, grief and trauma work, and nervous system / somatic practices. I’m grounded in existentialism, with a lens toward spirituality and meaning-making.
